How will the bailout of Fannie and Freddie effect the housing market and financial stocks?

Well, without a backstop, the market would go from collapse to disintegration. With the backstop it will just keep collapsing. There are some folks who believe that Treasury yields will now go through the roof. I happen to be one of them.

Will there be a news noise knee jerk on Monday? Sure. Which way will it go? I don’t know.

Overall, I’m as pessimistic as ever. This is a slow motion catastrophe that seems to me to still have legs.
