    Story on Brazil, etc.:

Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) — As many as 20 of the 100 deepwater oil rigs on order worldwide may be delayed or canceled as loan availability erodes, possibly slowing developments including the biggest petroleum discovery in the Americas in three decades.

I also read two days ago another Bloomberg news story (unable to locate) that talked of Brazilian infrastructure projects being delayed due to credit crunch.

Some suggestions for discussion next week:

Gold is over-priced compared to other metals and oil; stock stability will under cut gold bank-fear buying.

Bonds are a better buy than high dividend yield stocks because rates cannot be cut on bonds; discuss examples.

    Stock example:
cos.un (TSX.com) 40% dividend cut to finance paper roll over coming due 2009; more such cuts will come if credit markets do not unfreeze.

Discuss post-election year stock historical behaviour.
