The last fear trade trend from Dec 2008 through Mar 2009 was rising bond prices, rising US$, rising gold.

The liquidation/deleveraging effect was dropping junk bond prices, rising US$, muted long bond rise (for a while in October 2008), dropping gold, dropping industrial commodities.

The deleveraging epoc overlapped the fear trade and seemed to distort it for a while, as everything dropped, except the US$.

The only consistent behaviour was a rising US$ during all the deleveraging and then the extended fear trade into March 2009. So shorting the Euro might be the trade from here.

Who said this was the fear trade ? Maybe it is not.

Maybe it is the Sept 2007 asset speculation trade reborn.
